Privacy Policy

Daybreak is a morning briefing app that combines your calendar, local weather, and a daily focus into one card. This policy explains what data the app touches, where it goes, and the choices you have. The short version: Daybreak has no accounts, keeps your data on your device, and never sells it.

Data stored on your device

Everything Daybreak saves lives in the app's local storage on your phone:

• The name you enter and your preferences (tone, theme, temperature unit, wake time)
• Your briefing history (up to the last 30 briefings)

We operate no user database. Deleting the app deletes this data, and "Clear history" in Settings deletes saved briefings at any time.

Calendar

With your permission, Daybreak reads today's events from the calendars on your device to build your briefing. For free briefings, your calendar data is processed entirely on your device and never transmitted.

When an AI-personalized briefing is generated (a Daybreak Plus feature), the titles, times, and locations of today's events — together with your chosen user name and a weather summary — are sent over an encrypted connection to our briefing service, which forwards them to OpenAI to write the briefing text. This data is used only to generate that briefing. We do not store it on any server, and per OpenAI's API policy, data sent through the API is not used to train their models.

Location

With your permission, the app uses your device's approximate location to request local weather from OpenWeatherMap. Your coordinates are sent to OpenWeatherMap solely to retrieve the forecast; Daybreak does not store your location, track movement, or run in the background. If you decline location access, the app simply shows sample weather.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to validate subscription status; RevenueCat receives an anonymous app-generated identifier and Apple purchase receipt data — never your name, calendar, or location. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy. We never see your payment details.

Notifications

Your daily briefing notification is scheduled locally on your device. Daybreak does not use remote push servers and holds no push tokens.

What we don't do

• No accounts, sign-ins, or user profiles
• No advertising and no ad trackers
• No analytics or tracking across other apps and websites
• No selling or renting of data — there is nothing to sell

If a future version adds crash reporting or analytics, this policy will be updated first and the change noted below.

Service providers

To work, Daybreak relies on a small set of providers, each receiving only what their function requires: Apple (payments and app delivery), RevenueCat (subscription validation), OpenWeatherMap (weather, receives coordinates), Cloudflare (hosts our briefing relay), and OpenAI (generates Plus briefing text). Infrastructure providers may process transient operational logs (such as IP addresses and request timestamps) to run and secure their services.

Your choices

• Grant or revoke calendar, location, and notification access anytime in iOS Settings (the app's Settings → Permissions panel links you there)
• Delete saved briefings with Settings → Clear history
• Remove all app data by deleting the app

Children

Daybreak is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's release notes.
