OneTap is built to keep your information on your device. We have
no user accounts, and we do not sell, rent, or share your data. There is no
advertising and no cross-app tracking. Almost everything you do stays on your
iPhone — the one exception is the optional “Explain with AI” feature,
described below, which only sends anything when you choose to tap it.
What stays on your device
Everything you put into OneTap is stored locally on your iPhone:
Your captures (notes, parking spots, Wi-Fi details, names, medications, bills), including any photos you attach.
Your tracked subscriptions / renewals and reminder settings.
This data never leaves your device except where you choose to use the features below. We cannot see it.
AI explanations (optional)
The “What’s this?” decoder works two ways:
Decode it (the default) runs entirely on your device — nothing is sent anywhere.
Explain with AI is optional and only happens when you tap it. When you do, the specific text you pasted is sent over the internet to OneTap’s server, which uses Cloudflare and an AI model provider (such as OpenAI) to generate a plainer explanation and send it back.
What this means:
Only the text you chose to paste is sent, and only for that one request. It is not tied to an account or to your identity — OneTap has no user accounts.
The text is used only to produce your explanation. It is not used for advertising, to track you across apps, or to build a profile of you.
OneTap’s server does not keep a copy of your text. The providers above may process and briefly log it to operate and protect their service, under their own policies — see Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy and, where OpenAI is used, OpenAI’s Privacy Policy.
Because this text leaves your device, don’t use “Explain with AI” for anything you wouldn’t want processed by a third-party AI service. The on-device “Decode it” option is always there if you’d rather keep something private.
iCloud sync (optional)
If you enable iCloud sync, your captures and renewals are stored in your own
Apple iCloud account so they appear on your other devices, using Apple iCloud
Key-Value Storage. The data lives in your iCloud, governed by
Apple's Privacy Policy — the
developer of OneTap has no access to it.
Subscriptions (OneTap Plus)
Purchases are processed by Apple. To manage your subscription status we use
RevenueCat, which processes a
limited amount of data to make subscriptions work:
Purchase history — your OneTap Plus subscription status and transactions.
Identifiers — an anonymous app-user identifier and device identifier generated for billing.
This information is used only to provide subscription functionality. It is
not linked to your identity and is not used to track you across apps or websites.
Permissions
Camera / Photos — only so you can attach a photo to a capture. Photos are saved on your device; they are not uploaded to us.
Notifications — local reminders scheduled on your device. We do not send push notifications from a server.
Children
OneTap is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the date above.
